Hula Hoops with Laura Oakley

We're thrilled to host Laura Oakley for a hula hoop workshop! Come and learn new tricks and progressions on your existing tricks and hoop transitions. 

About Laura:

Laura is a circus artist who specialises in hula hoops. She has performed locally at events for Weta Digital and Cubadupa, toured nationwide with Circus Quirkus, and overseas to the San Diego International Fringe Festival. She has been an instructor at the Wellington Circus Hub for the past 7 years, working with a wide variety of people of different ages and abilities. Her teaching has a focus on technique and creativity with hula hoops. Her passion is blending traditional circus hoop multi hoop technique with dynamic object manipulation and juggling sequences, alongside movement quality and stage presence. Laura always enjoys getting people excited about what is possible with a plastic circle and helping them to find their own unique interpretations of the skills. 

Price: $60 for 90 minutes of hula hooping goodness.

Prerequisites: None, open to all levels! 

Useful skills include being comfortable spinning hoop on waist, knees, chest, and in hands on all planes, 2 beat weaves, and basic manipulation skills - however these are NOT necessary.

Open to adults and dedicated teens (15+).

You're free to bring your own hoops, otherwise we have a limited supply at Circotica for students to use.
